Ann Gillis Collins, 82, of Boynton Beach, FL, formerly of Charlestown, MA passed peacefully into eternal life on June 20, the date of the Summer Solstice, which marked the advent of her most glorious season- Summer. Ann was known for her youthful spirit, optimism and love of life as well as her deep compassion for others. Several of her friends defined her this way: “She is love” Our precious, beautiful Ann died peacefully with her loving and devoted children, grandchildren, and brother Dinny, as well as her many friends, by her side. Ann is the doting mother of Cheryl Collins-McGuire of Wellesley, Karen Surette of Hamilton and David Collins of Mill Valley, CA. She is also the cherished and revered grandmother of Michael J. McGuire of NYC, Paul, Michael, Joel and Jenae Surette of Lynn and Acton ME, as well as Julia and Sarah Collins of Mill Valley, CA. Ann is also the adored sister of Neil Gillis, Jane Ryle, Maureen Chamberlin, Eileen Gillis, Nancy Russell and the late Robert Gillis as well as her dear cousin Joseph Bryan. Ann was also the proud and loving aunt of 33 exceptional nieces and nephews. Ann is a graduate of Suffolk University and worked in nursing, as well as education, for a number of years. A Celebration of Life will take place at St. Anthony’s Church in Revere on Saturday, June 26 at 11:00 a.m. Friends and relatives are cordially invited. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at donate.cancer.org or to the charity closest to your heart.
