With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of the beloved Caterina Falamino on September 27, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on October 22, 1933, in Barrafranca, Sicily, Caterina was a beacon of light, love, and joy to everyone who knew her. She was a loving, supportive, funny, and charismatic woman who brought warmth and laughter into every life she touched. Caterina's journey from her birthplace in Sicily to the U.S. was a testament to her courageous spirit and the pursuit of the American Dream, a remarkable achievement she carried with pride.
Caterina resided in Addison, New York, but her heart and heritage always stayed rooted in her beloved Sicily. As a dedicated homemaker, she filled her home with love, joy, and the irresistible aroma of Sicilian cuisine. Her home was a hub of laughter, song, and dance. Caterina had a gift for making people feel welcomed and loved, earning her the affectionate title of "grandma" from all she met. Her hobbies were a reflection of her love for life and her family. She reveled in spending quality time with her granddaughters, sewing, cooking, walking, gardening, sunbathing, singing, and dancing. Everyone who knew Caterina will remember her bright smile, her infectious laughter, and her zest for life.
Caterina is survived by her loving daughter, Lucy Camilo; son-in-law, Charlie Camilo; sister-in-law Gina Marotta, granddaughters, Ashley Camilo, Brittany Gagyi and husband Chris Gagyi, Chelsea Camilo; great-granddaughter Annalise Gagyi; nieces, Lucy Marotta and family, Toni Mertz and family, and Carmelina Valentine and family; and nephew, Joe Marotta and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Giuseppe and Lucia Marotta, husband Luigi Falamino and brother Salvatore Marotta. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate her life, her spirit, and the love she poured into her family and friends.
We invite those who knew Caterina to share their memories and upload photos to her memorial page. As we remember her, let's not forget her laughter, her love for life, and the way she made us all feel special. Caterina may have left us, but her spirit continues to inspire us, reminding us to love deeply, laugh heartily, and live life to the fullest.
