Edward James Melanson

October 29, 1930 — April 28, 2017

Melanson, Edward James of Revere formerly of Woburn on April 28, 2017. Beloved husband of Marie (Cantone) Melanson. Devoted father of Bryan Melanson and wife Brenda of Woburn, Edward Melanson and wife Gail of North Reading, David Melanson and wife Susan of Reading, Stephen Melanson and wife Helena of Natick, and step father of Kathleen Noel and husband Steven of Revere, and Keith Cantone and his wife Linda of Lowell. Dear brother of Geraldine Curran of Woburn and the late Robert Melanson. Cherished grandfather of 9, loving great grandfather of 2 and step grandfather of 7. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Edward is a Purple Heart recipient and fought for his country in the Korean War for the United States Army and received the Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, and the United Nations Service Medal. He was an MDC Police Officer on Revere Beach for over 15 years and was a member of the Woburn Elks and the Woburn Lions. Edward will be sorely missed by all who knew him. A Funeral will be held at the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home 128 Revere St, Revere on Tuesday May 2, at 10:00am followed by a prayer service at 11:00am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. Private Interment. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Edward’s name to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
