Sofia, Ernest Jr. “Ernie” of Merrimac and formerly of Chelsea and Medford passed away on July 18, 2018 at the age of 78. Beloved husband of 56 years to Charlotte (Barton). Devoted father of Lisa Pelonzi and husband Michael of Danvers, Susan Sofia-McIntire and husband Michael of Newburyport and Dr. Mark Sofia and wife Dr. Diane of Merrimac. Cherished Grandfather of Jonathan, Benjamin, Erica, Reid, Anthony and Sorell. Dear brother of Robert John Sofia Sr. of Winthrop and the late Linda Sica. Adoring godfather of Robert John Sofia Jr. and the late Melissa Sica. Also survived by his best friend Robert “Rocky” Quinn and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral from the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home 128 Revere St, Revere on Monday July 23, 2018 at 9:00am. Funeral Mass at St. Anthony’s Church at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00pm to 6:00pm.
