Francis Joseph Gearraughty Jr., a spirited and dedicated resident of Saugus, Massachusetts, passed away on May 5, 2024, at the age of 57. Born in Revere, on November 11, 1966 and raised in Chelsea. He was the son of the late Francis J. Gearraughty Sr. and Conchetta M. (Lanzo) Gearraughty. Francis was known for his unwavering dedication to his work, his love for rebuilding his classic Mustang, and the joy he found in motorcycle rides.
Francis served as a correctional officer. Dedicating over years to the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department. His commitment, hard work, and passion for his job led to his retirement, an achievement he held with great pride. Despite his professional commitments, Francis always found time for his hobbies and passions, which were a testament to his spirited nature. He was an avid sports fan, hockey being his favorite. Francis still has his letterman jacket and all his jerseys from when he played for Chelsea High. This also followed into his adult life playing for the Sheriffs league hockey team.
He is survived by his sister Debra Strong and her husband Joseph of Revere, sister Susan Coston of Az, sister Annmarie Gearraughty of Saugus, and his late brother John Bernard and his surviving wife Bette of Saugus. He was a dear uncle to Michael Strong, Danielle Hylton, Collen Patnode, Kaitlyn Strong, Rocoy and Kai Hylton, and the late Christopher Strong.
A Visitation will be held at Buonfiglio Funeral Home, 128 Revere Street, Revere, Massachusetts, on Thursday, May 16, 2024, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00pm in the funeral home.
