Joseph A. LoRusso

Joseph A. LoRusso was born on April 29, 1946, in Boston, MA. to John and Mary LoRusso, of Everett, MA. He passed away peacefully on January 15th at the age of 78. 

He lived most of his life in Everett, MA. before he got the itch to extensively travel, locally and internationally. The world could almost be called Joe’s home. Travelling the world gave him great pleasure. He traveled continuously throughout Europe, Middle East, Israel, Russia, China, Australia, New Zealand and all of South America. He often returned with stories of living among the locals while experiencing their customs and traditions. Some of which were a little hair-raising.

Joe’s other interests were sports of all kinds. He wasn’t an athlete, but he tried many of them, including skeet shooting, deep sea fishing, golf, and bowling to name a few. Not sure there wasn’t a sport that he didn’t know the statistics of his favorite team. Additionally, he loved history-with an emphasis on religious history. His memory of past civilizations would astound you with the detail of what he recalled from both the written word as well as his visits to far off countries.

He was a devout Roman Catholic and an active bible scholar. Joe was passionate about his faith and the message of Salvation. He lived his life according to Roman Catholic principles. He demonstrated this daily as he fought Parkinson’s Disease with peace and dignity. Joe started his college education at Merrimack College and later enrolled in Charter Oak College receiving a B.S. degree in accounting. He applied his accounting degree and statistical acumen as a Tax Auditor for both the IRS and later MA. Dept. of Revenue.

Joe also found the time to own properties in the local Boston area. At one time he possessed 14 Units which kept him busy long into retirement. His work ethic, kindness and compassion endeared him to his lifelong friends. Joe is survived by his brothers Richard and John LoRusso, his sister-in-law, JoAnn DiLoreto LoRusso, nieces Dina Overland and Kathryn Edwards and their children Cyrus Overland, and Evalina and Sayla Edwards. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Mary and his sister-in-law Camille LoRusso.

Joe’s legacy of valuing family, caring for his elderly parents, promoting catholic missions and charities, education, will live long in the memories of his family.  In Joe’s honor, the family welcomes flowers or a donation to a charity of your choice.

The family would like to thank the staff at Greystone Farm, Salem, NH for their considerate, attentive, and kind care.

Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation and reception with the family from 4p.m. - 8p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons Funeral Home 128 Revere St, Revere.  Funeral on Thursday at the Funeral Home at 9am followed by a Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Revere at 10:00am.  Interment Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
