Luigi Verdura

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Luigi Verdura, a loving and loyal husband, a caring father and grandfather, and a compassionate friend to all whose lives he touched. Born in the quaint town of Barra Franca, Sicily on December 10, 1928, Luigi was a beacon of love, laughter, and warmth, living a fulfilling life of 96 years. He peacefully passed away on January 5, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Luigi was a dedicated machine operator in the manufacturing industry until his retirement. He was a witty, hardworking man who took pride in everything he did, especially his beautiful garden and well-kept home. Luigi's infectious smile and loving nature were his trademarks, making him an unforgettable character to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. His love for gardening was only surpassed by his love for his family and his devotion to his wife of nearly 69 years, Lucy Verdura. Together, they created a loving home and a family that was the center of Luigi's universe.

Luigi will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Lucy Verdura; his loving children, Rosemarie (Salvatore) Vacirca, Andy (Maureen) Verdura, and Angelo (Amy) Verdura; his caring sister, Maria (Giuseppe) Aleo;. As well as his grandchildren Gina McDonald, Cassandra Verdura, Andrea Gallant, Andrew Verdura, Michael Vacirca, and the late Nicholas Verdura. He also leaves behind 8 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrea and Rosa Verdura, and his sisters, Nina Costa and Alessandra Papalia.

A Visitation for Luigi will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 from 4-8pm at Paul Buonfiglio and sons funeral home. A funeral Service will be Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at 10:00AM with a funeral mass to follow at Saint Anthony's Church in Revere. Entombment at Holy Cross Mausoleum in Malden.
