Robert P. Gibson

June 17, 1937 — April 6, 2024

Revere

It is with profound sadness that we announce the departure of Robert P. Gibson, who passed away on April 6, 2024. Known affectionately as "Bob," he was born on June 17, 1937, in Framingham, MA where he grew up on the family farm. He was witty, generous, humble, and supportive, characteristics that endeared him to many.

During his life he resided and worked in diverse locations, including Revere, Boston, Cambridge, New Mexico, New Zealand, Greenland and Antarctica. He served in the Navy, touring the Mediterranean and northern Europe on board various naval vessels. Robert was a lifelong member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 103, working as an electrician. He had a unique career, having worked on classified operations in the Navy, and even served in the Admiral's quarters. He was also known for his humorous escapades, often playing practical jokes, and looking for the humor in life during tough times.

Bob was a devoted Catholic, faithfully attending St. Anthony's in Revere. He was generous with his time and resources, his heart as vast as the ocean he loved so much. "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God," Matthew 5:9. This verse embodied Robert's life, as he was always ready to lend a helping hand and resolve conflicts peacefully.

His family was the most important thing to him. He leaves behind his loving wife of 51 years, Mona, whom he met on Boston Common and instantly fell in love with her brown eyes. His sons Robert Gibson and his fiancée Amy Hatzigannis of Swampscott, MA, David Gibson and his partner Devian Starr of Sacramento, CA and James Gibson and his wife Amanda of Revere, MA, his grandchildren Rhys, Elliott, Ellia, and Isaiah, will forever cherish his memory. Bob was a steadfast supporter of his children’s various pursuits, always present at sporting events and important moments in their lives. He is also survived by his brother George Gibson.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents George and Cecelia Gibson, and his siblings Charles, Michael, James, Patricia, Connie, William, and Jack Gibson. May their reunion be a joyous one.

Robert Gibson lived a full life, traveling extensively to spend time with family, from trips to Cape Cod, Arizona, California, Florida, Trinidad, The Bahamas, Rome, Vatican City, Mexico and more. He had a deep love for his European roots and Canadian heritage and was an avid fan of the Red Sox and Patriots. He proudly held on to his memories from his travels, experiences, and loved retelling his stories from the Navy and his adventures traveling the world.

As we bid farewell to this incredible soul who has left an indelible mark on us all, we invite you to share your memories of Robert and upload your treasured photos of him to the memorial page. Let's celebrate his life and keep his memory alive.
