Stephen M. Covitz

March 11, 1952 — October 2, 2013

Covitz, Stephen M. of East Bridgewater formerly of Revere lost his battle after a long illness Oct. 3. He was 61. Beloved son of the late Wilbur & Mildred (Weaver) Covitz. Loving brother of Gary & his wife Jane, Karen Oliveri, Susan Machado, Cheryl Bedrosian & her husband Gregory. Also survived by his loving nieces and nephews Marc Oliveri, Jillian & Robert Ragusa, Chelsey & Cameron Covitz, Briana Christie, Adam & Edward Machado. Funeral will be Monday Oct. 7 in the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons – Bruno Funeral Home 128 Revere St. REVERE at 9:30 am followed by a service in the funeral home at 10:30 am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours will be Sunday 2-6pm. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to The 27th Lancers Foundation 709 Revere Beach Parkway, Revere, Ma. 02151 or Seasons Hospice 275 Grove St. Suite 3-102 Newton, Ma. 02466 Stephen Worked at Arthur Anderson and most recently at Loomis Sayles. When he wasn’t working he enjoyed Theater, Marching with the 27th Lancers and He loved to travel. He taught many drum corps, bands and color guard through out the Country. He was recently inducted into the Massachusetts Drum & Bugle Corp Hall of Fame. His travels brought him many places but Barbosa, Columbia is where he found some special friends, often returning during Christmas and Easter bearing gifts. His friends in Columbia affectionately knew him as Papa Noel. For those who knew him, Christmas was a special time. Stephen loved to decorate for the Holiday and he would often transform his home with many decorations. Stephen adored his nieces & nephews they were his pride and joy. He was so proud of their accomplishments and often would shower them gifts & presents.
