John stared out as a Boston VA Hosp knee surgery patient...and became a dear friend. We kept in touch through more than 40 yrs. he was a good hearted generous man who loved his family and friends. He will sadly missed but fondly remembered.

I am Jim Johnson's daughter, Teri Charest. I am so grateful to John for helping us surprise my dad on his 50th birthday a "few" years ago. John flew to Minnesota, unknowingly to my dad until he walked off the jet way at the airport. It was the first time they had seen each other since Vietnam. Boy, did the tears flow. We got to know John a bit during his stay. It was not nearly as much time as we would have liked to spend with him. In that short time, it was clear that John is a sincere, sweet, gentle man. My heart goes out to the Trovato family. Please know that his kindness and friendship is greatly appreciated. We will miss him. We wish you peace and comfort as you grieve your loss.

To John's Family. Needless to say how shocked I was when I heard of John's passing. I still can't get my head around it. John and I were stationed in Vietnam together as well. He and I stayed in touch with each other for many years. In fact John flew to Minnesota in 1999 to help celebrate my 50th birthday, and that was a complete surprise, and I cherish that memory very much. I think I will miss the phone calls, emails and swapping Christmas Cards most of all. So take care, love to you all. Jim . .

I was stationed with John in Pleiku, Vietnam with the 600th photo squadron. He was always full of fun. We kept in contact via e-mail all these years. He will be missed. Phil (Rudy) Hansen Bovey, MN
