To Maureen and family, please accept my heartfelt condolences. Another of Revere's "old guard" passed from the scene. Steve Chamberlain was one of those individuals who personified the Revere of yesteryear. A time and spirit felt by those who lived and par-took of the era we now call the old days. As I sit and type this I recall him with great affection and esteem. I first met Steve in the 80's and we became friends. Steve was a friend to many, mainly as a result of service to community. This service took a number of forms. As a Lt. in the Revere Fire Department he served humanity and the city he loved. He also served his brother firefighters who like him stood tall in the ranks providing unswerving dedication to mission. One of those mission would include his stewardship as a union official. In this capacity he provided leadership and direction, in a cooperative manner, to achieve the union's objectives. He also served the city as a businessman. His association with the "Speakeasy" lounge on Broadway brought him in touch with many Revereites, a lot of whom would eventually be elevated to friend status. Of all the service associations the one I think he valued most was service to Family. For many Revere is a synonym for family, if you lived here long enough you'll know what I mean ---- Steve was a member of that club! Marriage to his beloved sweetheart Maureen Gillis would produce three loving children; Stacey, Stephen Jr., and Amy. Four grandchildren and one great grandchild would follow ---- see what I mean Revere is about families! I'm sure all his family members could tell you far better than I what a great family man and provider he was. Our view of him may dim with time, however; his remembrance will always shine bright for here on earth there were hearts he touched and good folks who'll miss him very much. I'm glad I knew him, I'm a better person for that experience!

I remember him as a gentleman who was always patient with me at the Speakeasy when I was misbehaving. He's been through a lot health wise. May he REST IN PEACE. We lost a good guy. Peter D.
